that's contradictive information...uric acid crystals is gout
Both of those studies can't be right, keep researching make sure that the sourses have good studies. i've never heard that too much exercise increases uric acid tho.
Long live Jane
The only causes of gout are genetics, gender & age (mostly adult men, although some at-risk women can get it), being overweight, drinking too much alcohol, foods rich in purines, an enzyme defect, exposure to lead, and certain medications. Never heard of exercise as a cause. In fact, exercise helps.

Gout sufferer here. Only thing I could guess is that excessive exercise possibly could dehydrate you, and that's of course if you're not drinking water while exercising. And obviously you'd have to have the other aspects of gout, such as a decreased ability to get rid of uric acid, or your body creates excess uric acid, or your diet is full of purines, or you drink too much alcohol, etc.
So as long as you drink fluids while exercising, can't agree that excessive exercise would lead to gout.
