Fatty foods! Stay away from red meat for awhile. Her's a little secret for you...a tsp. of baking soda in a glass of water, every 6 hrs for acute attacks! The baking soda helps your liver and kidneys flush the built up uric acid in your blood, which is what caused your gout. If you have high blood pressure though, you must be careful about trying that since it is a form of salt. And, gout can be a side effect of some blood pressure meds...it's a viscious cycle.

Recurrent attacks can be avoided by maintaining a healthy weight and limiting the intake of purinerich foods. A diet high in fiber and low in fat is also recommended. Processed foods should be replaced by complex carbohydrates, such as whole grains. Protein intake should be limited to under 0.8g/kg of body weight per day.
