question about gout?

question about gout?my dad has a gout infection in his knee and I'm wondering why his doc told him not to eat pork? what is it about pork, did it cause gout?

Bd
gout is caused by a high level of uric acid. uric acid is a breakdown product of foods that contain purines. pork contains a high amount of purine which is probably why the doctor said to stop eating it. there are so many foods out there that contain purines...pork is not the only thing. your dad should probably cut down on the amt of purine containing foods to prevent another attack..these attacks can be very painful.
