She has recently gotten a kidney transplant from my older brother and has gotten much better. The only thing that bugs her at the moment is gout (pain and swelling in an area - normally on feet) which is usually on her feet and legs.
Just a couple of days ago, she had pain and swelling in the hands/arms. I was just wondering if it was normal to have gout on your upper body. This has never happened before. My other brother also has gout and usually has it on his legs as well.
So I don't know if it's normal and would like to know if we should get her checked. Usually gout will go away in a few days, but this has been continuous. If anybody knows and could help, we'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
Allison
You need to call the transplant center so they can rule out rejection. That's your first priority, espcially if she has also gained weight.
It could very well be something else, but the transplant team is the first place to call.
I have transplants myself, and my #1 priority is to protect the organs.
