As a nurse, I know what causes Gout. Changing my diet will not work because I rarely eat foods high in Purines which cause the build up of the painful uric crystals. I'm basically asking if there is any home remedies to aid in flare ups. I have it in my left pinkie finger joint. None of my arthritis remedies help with the Gout. So I don't have many ideas.

Stop eating rich foods and meat.
Lay off the alcohol.
Drink water to flush out the kidneys.
Elevate feet.
Leave the feet bare!
Sox and blankets are painful.
Wait for the body to heal itself!

Yes. What you need is Glucosamine, which repairs damaged cartilage, which supplies the body with natural material to repair joint connective tissue and helps reduce inflammation. Cat's claw, which is for chronic inflammation. It stimulates the immune system and acts as a natural antioxidant to protect against free radical damage.
Gout is an arthritis-like metabolic disorder that increases concentration of uric acid in biological fluids. The uric acid becomes crystallized and is deposited in joints, tendons, the kidneys, and other tissues, causing inflammation, swelling and damage.
Basically, you might need to change your diet and hit the health food store and stock up on some herbs and minerals. That way you fix the problem, restore your body. Covering up the pain of Gout with pain relievers may not be the way to go.
If you want, I can scan a page out of my book and e-mail it to you. If not, the name of the book is, Today's Herbal Health. By Louise Tenney, M.H.

My husband suffers with Gout in his Big Toe! I asked this question on here a few weeks ago. A home remedy someone gave me was mash some garlic cayenne pepper and rub in on the gout area to help elevate the pain.. Try that.

Cherries are a home remedy for gout. However, you need to eat ALOT of them. I would suggest cherry juice. Hope it helps!
