most likely it is not gout........during your reaction to needle prick, you tensed up muscles along cervical spine, which could have misaligned a vertebrae.
Go see a chiropractor. Narcotics only cover symptoms.....they never treat the cause of pain.

HIGHLY unlikely gout- Please contact the Physician that did the procedure that you described. Ur problem is more than likely related to this. In the meantime, Try ICING the area- then place heat on the site- alternate this every 15 minutes. Try the sites below:
