Why is it that after a few drinks of alcohol, my lower legs & feet get hot and painful? It doesn't seem to matter what type of alcohol I drink. The temporary heat is usually in my calves & feet but I usually get lingering pain in my knees for several days. I've seen a doctor but they offered me no good answers. Someone suggested it may be elevated levels of Uric Acid which causes Gout - but I don't ever get any swelling like you would expect from Gout. Any ideas?

well, alcohol dissolves fatty tissue, which is why you get that burning/warm sensation in your throat and stomach when you drink it.. I can only assume the same thing is happening to the blood vessels in your lower body...

when I used to drink, if I drank too fast I'd have the same sensation in my chest, specifically around my heart.. I later learned that was probably caused by the alcohol entering my blood stream and "burning" the tissue in my heart...

actually, come to think of it, the exact same thing happens to a girl I know, she says her lower body gets "hot"...

Go do a blood chem. This will help you show the abnormalities in your system
