Gout is an accumlation of uric acid in the joints. Uric acids comes from the break down of chemicals in your body called Purines. The are basic building blocks of your DNA and RNA, but when you have to many and don't need them you have to get rid of them. So your body converts them to uric acid to be excreted, but sometimes with an overdose of purines in food, or a medical condition that causes increased uric acid it can't be excreted fast enough. So it has a nasty habit of parcipitating in places that are cooler than the body. The joints of hands and feet. If you think you have gout because of eating food high in purines, stop eating so many of them and drink lots of water. Placing a heating pad on the painful joint while your resting will help remove the uric acid crystals and flush them out because they like forming crystals in cold places. Check the link below and good luck. If you still dont' have any luck see your Dr, he might be able to give you a medication called Allopurinol that will stop uric acid production.
