I had a gout attack around a month ago, and the bone just below my big toe is sticking out, why?
Thanks for the answers, about how long will it take to get better?(there is no swelling it is like bone), i guess it could be toefi but this is only the first attack I have had in my left foot.

inflamation and swelling. It should go down but it will be back everytime you have an attack and will go down less and less over repeated attacks.

Well, I use to see renal patients taking allopurinal for this to treat the uric acid from building up, and it usually didn't look pretty after several years. They had chronically knotted joints for some reason. According to the mayoclinic.com,....
"Untreated gout may cause deposits of urate crystals to form under the skin in nodules called tophi (TOE-fi). Tophi usually aren't painful, but they can become swollen and tender during gout attacks."
