Will a vegetarian diet increase purine content in body and thus provoke gout?

Will a vegetarian diet increase purine content in body and thus provoke gout?Because mostly vegetarians get their protein from nuts, beans and legumes which contain considerable amount of purine. I'm gradually switching to be a vegetarian and my mom said to watch my nuts and beans consumption.

Your mother is mistaken.

For the most part it is animal products that are high in purines. Here is a table with a list of commonly eaten foods:

I honestly never heard of a vegetarian with gout. Only meat eaters, usually people who eat a lot of organ meats.
