What effect does Resveratrol have on a gout flare up? Red wine originally triggered my gout...?

It is my understanding that Resveratrol is similar to the main healing ingredient in red wine?
Does Resveratrol help or hinder healing from gout?

I know fish oil caps cause serious gout flare ups because there is no one regulating supplements they publish no side affects.

It is another money not health driven industry.

Gout is a particularly painful form of arthritis. If any one is suffering with gout, then they have to check their body, since their body condition is trying to tell them something an issue it is experiencing. The three major causes of gout are being overweight, eating red meats and high levels of alcohol.

The short answer is Resveratrol is an anti-oxidant, and those are considered to be good for gout.

It's interesting that red wine would trigger your gout. If it still does, how much do you drink in a given week? You should be able to drink one glass a night with no problems.

I've battled gout for 14+ years, here's what I've learned that a gout person needs to do: help the body get rid of uric acid, and don't worry so much about what foods or drinks become uric acid.

Take allopurinol, it's a script from the doctor. Is very inexpensive and has no side effects.
Take celery seed pills, helps the body to not create so much uric acid.
Drink 1 oz of water for every 2 lbs of body weight, daily.
Drink 100% fruit juices.
Avoid anything that dehydrates the body, such as beer, coffee, high fructose corn syrup.

www.best-gout-remedies.com is the best web site I've found that has gout information.

Good luck to you!

Resveratrol is found in many different plants, including peanuts and Japanese Knotweed and dark skinned fruits such as pomegranates, blueberries, and cranberries. Resveratrol is also found in grapes, fueling many articles on the health benefits of red wine. To be sure, if you over imbibe red wine, you will have side effects, though not from an overdose of resveratrol. To get the amount of resveratrol into your body that is normally used in studies, you would have to drink several bottles daily. Instead, manufacturers have developed resveratrol supplements, and they are available in varying dosages and strengths. While long-term side effects of resveratrol supplementation in humans are not yet known, many positive side effects have been reported by both scientists and resveratrol users. However, there are some points to keep in mind.
