GOUT help!?

GOUT help!?Can anyone recommend a home remedy for my husband's gout please? We know all the conventional dietry advice. For example we know that high purine foods cause gout and which those are. Someone recently told us that turkey causes their gout and we have avoided it which has brought considerable improvement to the condition. Also he has cranberry juice to help. The problem is, what to do when he has an outbreak in order to stop it escalating. Is there something he can do or eat please?

I have it too. Ouch. Cranberry juice has a lot of oxylates and he had better not have had a kidney stone.
Id use a health store derivative first.

I would think drinking extra water would help - it would dilute the purine level in the joints. warning - too much water can also dilute electrolytes to the extent of causing death. have to balance the right amount of water without causing harm. best to see a doctor.

A potent dose of Ibuprofren perhaps...there's all kinds of things that can cause it. I had it once, and the doctor told me to eat more healthy stuff, seeing as "rich foods" can cause it...that and take the pain killer. I went around on a crutch for two weeks.
Make sure it's diagnosed correctly...there's also a condition called "pseudo-gout"!
