I want to know what is the thinnest grout line? I was thinking of 1/8.
His gout lines are 1/2 and possibly larger. They seem to be inconsistant. I can even lay my finger in some areas as to how wide they are.
I suggested re-doing it, but he insists it will look fine after the grout is in.
The grout color is very close to the tile color, but I know grout will tend to change in color or darken as it ages.
I honestly do not like grout and want to see as little as possible. I can't imagine, if i agree with him, the upkeep of keeping it clean.
Any advice as to come to an agreement with what I want?
I purchased the tiles, from a place that is going out of business. I would be lucky to find what I need since the supply is limited. Also, they weren't cheap even on sale. I think there are 6 or 8 tiles to a box and were $ 38 ea box. What would be a fair re-do? Do I buy the new tiles? Do I pay for the unsatisfied job, plus tear out and re-do?
This was done in my daughters house that isn't occupied yet. So he, more or less, just laid it and I checked on it the next day. Should get someone else to lay it, what is my obligation to pay this contractor if I am displeased. I want to be fair, but now I feel I'm paying full price for the tile since I will be re-buying them.
