What is wrong with my moms ankle?I am very worried because my mom for about 2 months has had HORRIBLE ankle pain. To the point where she can hardly walk on it (yet she works in a hospital and obviously doesn't want to lose her job so she is walking on it a lot) She doesn't remember doing anything specific to it (like falling or twisting it) But we have moved twice within about 4 months, which I know can be very physically straining. She has swelling all around her ankle and I know she is doing more damage to it because she is walking on the edge of her foot because it hurts too much to walk normal. It is very bad pain every single time she walks. She has been to the doc and they did an arthritis screening, gout and other inflammatory problems. Which all were negative, though they MAYBE it was like a pseudogout. She is obviously going to get a second opinion, but it bothers me she is in so much pain and they they cant figure out what it is for sure. Any ideas or anyone deal with the same thing? Thanks so much i am just worried about her health.

I agree to go after second opinion, but in the mean time my suggestion is for your Mom to go to a physiotherapist. It is very important to arrange some sort of supporting device to alleviate the strain, thus preventing further damage before the underlying problem is resolved.
