rheumatoid arthritis???????????????

rheumatoid arthritis???????????????I have to go to a orthopedic on monday because there's something wrong with my hand and i wanted to see if anyone could tell me what they think is wrong.
I got a xray done and it showed i had joint erosion and on the report it said that its either early rheumatoid arthritis, gout, or chronic infection. I wanted to know if anybody can rule any of these out.
I've got pain and swelling in the base of my thumb and on the back of my hand. It started about 8 or 9 months ago and at first my thumb just had a little pain here and there and then it started hurting worse and more often as time went on and then it started swelling. Then about 3 or 4 months ago the back of my hand started doing the same thing. the pain level when i'm not taking the pain med cation my doctor gave me is about a 6 or 7. But one i take my medication (naproxen) i have no pain.
If anyone had any imformation i would appreciate it thanks. Oh and btw, I'm 20 years old, if that helps any.
i guess the orthopedic will send me to one after i see him. I don't know anything about this stuff or what these different kind of doctor's do. I'm just going to a orthopedic becuase after my primary doctor looked at my x ray and x ray report she said i need to go there. But I'm just asking questions on here so hopefully i can have some kind of idea of what he is going to say when i go monday

You should be seeing a rheumatologist, not an orthopedist.

A rheumatologist will be able to properly diagnose you.

definitely see a rheumatologist. they will normally do x-ray's on both hands and feet. typically ra affects both sides of the body equally. that is the rheumatologist will take x-ray's of both sides. also with ra many people got is called ra nodules on the elbows, most of the time on both sides, which is a bump that can be felt if you grab the extra skin on the elbow.
