im looking for something i could just go buy OTC at like CVS or Rite Aide
like how taking l-lysine helps with cold sores and taking acidophilus helps yeast infections.
is there anything OTC that will help gout?

There's things you can take that might help that are over the counter. Important thing is this: gout is caused by uric acid pooling in joints and then forming crystals and then the body's immune system attacks the crystals, causing the pain. The start of the domino effect is the excess uric acid in the body. So it's a 2-pronged attack that one must make: how to get over an attack, and how to help the body get rid of uric acid.
Over the counter, you can eat cherries, drink cherry juice, take cherry extract pills, take celery seed pills. For more go to www.best-gout-remedies.com.
Something that has really helped me in my 11+ year battle with gout, is a prescription for allopurinol. It's very inexpensive and has no side effects.
One other big thing that helped me was to give up drinking beer. Another was to eat more fruits and drink V8 VFusion since I don't like vegetables.
Btw, acidophilus helps with getting rid of uric acid too. A healthy colon helps a body get rid of uric acid, as well as provide a strong immune system.
Good luck to you!
