A week before I showed signs of H1N1 my wrist hurt then my ankle, knee, shoulder and then back to the wrists. I was in some big time pain I wasn't sure what it was. The pain was horrible and motrin just took the edge off the pain. After a week of pain, I had stomach trouble and then full on flu. Im still sick right now...and it sucks! Tell him to push the fluids and take plenty of motrin or Aleve.

This condition is referred to as polyarthropathy, or arthritis of multiple joints. (any irritation or inflammation or infection of a joint is technically an arthritis) Some are long standing, some very temporary.
The odds of a systemic arthritic illness is not high, thankfully, particularly with the normal labs. This is clearly not chronic, but some abrupt process. By far the most likely is some sort of viral infection, which cannot be diagosed by a lab test, most times.
The naproxen often is helpful with such problems, and for the short term problems, can often get rid of them permanently.
If there is no resolution in about a week, a visit with an arthritis specialist might be in order (they are called Rheumatologists)
G'luck!
