Lumps on cockatiels foot?Hi, my cockatiel smokey is my best friend. Recently she has developed lumps on her right foot that bleed, and they have spread to her left foot. The vet ran tests and said her kidney levels are high as well. He said theres nothing that can be done to bring her levels down. Is that true? Is kidney disease really untreatable? And does anyone have any idea what the lumps can be? Theyre not under the foot, theyre on the toes, and her leg swelled up too.I know gout is a possibility, anything else? Shes 17 btw. Thank you!
Yes, her uric acid is at 36. Its supposed to be at 10. Any idea about lowering that number, what it means, or how long my baby has? =*(

Kidney disease can be treatable if detected early. If your cockatiel's kidney disease had progressed, then it's possible there's nothing the vet can do for it. Did you see an avian vet that specializes in treating birds? If you saw a regular dog and cat vet, I'd get an opinion from an avian vet. Was it the cockatiel's uric acid levels that were high? That is often the case with kidney disease and gout.
As for the lumps on its feet, what did the vet say? It could be gout or even bumblefoot. Both are treatable diseases.
