You can check out the best website I've found about gout, www.best-gout-remedies.com.
From what I can remember, colchicine helps the body during a gout attack. Officially, it keeps neutrophils from entering the inflammed area. But I'm not sure what a neutrophil is. :o)
Anyway, it's supposed to help decrease the pain during an attack. Plus a person can take it constantly to help keep the gout away.
That said, I don't feel colchicine is the best thing for gout. Two things: a person must figure out how to help the body get rid of uric acid, and help the body to not produce so much uric acid. The way I understand colchicine, it does neither of those things.
Best of luck to you!
