Red wine, meat, and alcohol can increase the amount of uric acid your body retains, and uric acid chrystals are what makes your joints hurt when you have gout.

you get drunk and forget to fix it.

My friend has it too. I know alcohol is bad, but I don't know why red wine would be worse than white.

Because red wine, red meat, and cream sauces all cause the kidneys to produce more uric acid. Uric acid buildup in the joints is the cause of gout.
