Gout is a massing of Uric Acid crystals that are in your blood at a joint, typically the large toe. It causes inflammation of the joint and therefore pain and swelling. Why do you believe you have gout? Was this diagnosed by a medical professional. Was a blood Uric Acid level test conducted. In mild cases, the inflammation can be treated with over the counter anti-inflammatories such as Ibuprophen. In more severe cases however you will need to treat the cause, the high Uric Acid levels. This is done by medications such as Urocit-K or Allipurinol which must be taken daily.

Gout is a chronic metabolic disease (like diabetes) which leads to the accumulation of uric acid in your blood and deposition in joints and soft tissues, producing swelling and pain. If you really have gout, it will not heal over a week, you need to adjust your diet to this (less proteins) and use medications that can control the condition (like Allupurinol), and follow up regularly with your doc and by testing the level of uric acid in your blood.

i had gout in my heel, it was so painful. Gout can take months to heal, but with the right medication it should clear up pretty quickly. Be aware that gout can spread to your other joints if its not treated. It does sound like you still have it, if its troubling i'd see your doctor or go to the hospital. My gout has gone now, it took 12 weeks for it to go, but i still have the lump in my heel where it was and i was told that it may flair up again at a later date. My heart goes out to you! Hope it get better for you soon!
best wishes :-)
