Can drinking soda cause pain in joints especially on foot?

Can drinking soda cause pain in joints especially on foot?I have been having pain in my left foot and joints especially shoulder and elbow for months and I was drinking sodas (diet Dr. Pepper 7 glasses a day). I thought it was an early onset of gout, so I stopped to eat meat and the pain was still there. 2 months ago I came accross this article about how bad sodas were and I stopped dringing them and guess what...I have no more pain in my foot or joints! How could you explain this? Can anybody link sodas to painful joints? Thanx!

you might be developing GOUT.
You do not want gout.
Look into it

I found a quick article about this. Couldn't find the one I remember reading that said soda might reduce your bodies' ability to absorb calcium.

Soda deffinately adds to pains of the joints. It deteriates bones and dehydrates you making the joints stick rather than glide, plus I think that carbonization does something too. You didn't say how long you've been drinking soda though so it's hard to say if it's possible that it's done damage or not.

Oh oh. I have been drinking way to much Dr. Pepper for about 2 years now, and the tops of my feet are always painful. I tried stopping and cut down to one a day and it has been a little better too.

Phosphoric acid (in a lot of sodas) binds with calcium as it is expelled from the body. So, for every molecule of phosphoric acid expelled it takes a molecule of calcium with it.

I had a devastating knee injury and had been an avid Pepsi drinker. After reading an article about this I tried it and was shocked at the reduction in pain. So, I went back to drinking them again to see if it was all in my head. Sadly, it was not. I avoid any drink (some flavored water too) that contains phosphoric acid and am much better off.

Sorry!
