I found a quick article about this. Couldn't find the one I remember reading that said soda might reduce your bodies' ability to absorb calcium.

Soda deffinately adds to pains of the joints. It deteriates bones and dehydrates you making the joints stick rather than glide, plus I think that carbonization does something too. You didn't say how long you've been drinking soda though so it's hard to say if it's possible that it's done damage or not.

Oh oh. I have been drinking way to much Dr. Pepper for about 2 years now, and the tops of my feet are always painful. I tried stopping and cut down to one a day and it has been a little better too.

Phosphoric acid (in a lot of sodas) binds with calcium as it is expelled from the body. So, for every molecule of phosphoric acid expelled it takes a molecule of calcium with it.
I had a devastating knee injury and had been an avid Pepsi drinker. After reading an article about this I tried it and was shocked at the reduction in pain. So, I went back to drinking them again to see if it was all in my head. Sadly, it was not. I avoid any drink (some flavored water too) that contains phosphoric acid and am much better off.
Sorry!
