Are there any other causes of Gout in a 47 year old alcoholic?

Are there any other causes of Gout in a 47 year old alcoholic?He claims it is brought on by his blood pressure medication, not his alcohol consumption. No family history of gout.

He is alcoholic, it's from that. He just doesn't want to admit he drinks too much.

Does he also have poor diet? That could do it as well.

The simple truth is that alcohol consumption is one of the major causes of gout. Blood pressure medication is not considered a risk for developing gout.

Also alcohol consumption is the worst thing you can do once you have gout. Alcohol effects the way your body processes purines causing your body to create more uric acid out of the purines than it normally would.

Alcohol is the problem there man, gout probably isn't the only issue that has arisen from that problem.
