Why does the inside of my big toe joint itch?

Why does the inside of my big toe joint itch?Ok, this is for a male, about 40 years old. I have a white bump on the top of my right big toe. Kinda looks like a wart, but isn't. It itches like crazy sometimes, but it feels like the itching is coming from inside my joint. My toe isn't red, or swollen. I thought about gout, but the symptoms don't match. Any ideas?

A cyst maybe? If its in the joint I think you should see a doctor it could get worse.
