What will ease the pain of gout?

What will ease the pain of gout?My husband has severe gout in his foot. Usually it goes away in a few days, but not this time. He has a very bad reaction to what the doctor says is the only medication for gout. I would like to ease the pain for him.

The only remedy I have tried with any measure of sucess has been Motrin. It is an inflamation. You must watch your diet if you have gout.

different drugs can help relieve pain of gout. They include the simple analgesics like paracetamol ( tynelol ) to diclofenic sodium

but for long term allopurinol 100mg od or cholchicine are recommended along with dietary control.

Use drugs only when prescribed by physician.

I get it very bad sometimes. And right now is one of them. See a specialist.(rheumatoid arthritis) The two best drugs which have been suggested are allopurinal and cholchacine. You can take as much as 600mgs. of allopurinal. When my pain gets unbearable, sleepless nights type stuff, I take oxy codone. watch your purine intake. Anchovies and sardines are the worst. Find a good doctor. There's more than one medication for gout. Also, drink ALOT of water to flush as much uric acid out of your body that you can. BB
