I have spinal problems and have those sypmtons. Something is cutting of your circulation from my guess. Keep your feet up as much as possible. Try not to eat salty foods and drink lots of liquids to flush your system. Also, see if your doctor will give you a "water pill" it may help. If you smoke, try to quit, it aggrevates it.

i have the same problem except my doesn't hurt anymore. i have had an MRI, 2 ultra sounds on my leg, chest, foot, leg and ankle x-rays done as well as tons of blood work and nothing can up. i ran out of money so i cant go for further tests. my toes aren't numb. the swelling and indentations are also below my knee. my foot and ankle are the worst though. i was told edema was what the swelling was called and i looked it up and changed my diet but the swelling didn't go down. it hasn't gotten worse. it's been the same way for 4 years. i can't wear dress shoes cuz my foot wont fit, i can still wear tennis shoes though. sorry i couldn't be more help. if you find and information that cures it PLEASE email me at lukyleaf@hotmail.com, put urgent as the subject. i elevate it when i can and that seems to make the swelling go down, but as soon as i stand up and start walking around it, it gets worse. ice doesn't help either. I'm really sorry this happened to you to. my race is black and white and i am adopted, so i don't know if it is heredity. it could be a rare race related disease. can you tell I'm desperate for an answer?

My 1st thought was gout but since you have been checked for that then we know its not that. Have they checked you for any form of arthritis? It does sound like you are retaining fluid but only in your feet. My only suggestion would be to try and get an appointment with a foot and ankle specialist. I have chronic foot pain and my foot doctor has been wonderful about trying to figure out what my problem is. I want to wish you all of the luck in the world because i know where you are coming from. I hope you find the right doctor who can diagnose you soon. Good luck

Have your blood pressure checked a couple of times a weeek some fire stations will do this for you. If you are full of fluid this could be serious. I had this problem but not as servere what I thought was swelling was fluid I had never had a problem with blood pressure until then. Please see your Dr as soon as posible tell him or her you suspect high blood pressure they should check it twice when you arrive and after you have been seated for a little while I hope this helps. God Bless

Has your dr. checked you for diabetes? Many diabetics have foot problems, and numbness and an infection of the foot could be a symptom. You could have an infection in the foot which is causing the swelling and pain.
