swollen knuckles, elbow and knee?

swollen knuckles, elbow and knee?My co worker came in to work today and said she woke up this morning with a swollen knuckle, right knee and right elbow. She complained of it being really sore. I asked her if she did something to cause this she said no. It kind of sounds like gout, but I think she is too young (18) anybody have any ideas?

Did she fall in her sleep since it's 1-sided?

Gout would have to do with her diet and too much uric acid.

It usually causes great pain, redness, tenderness & swelling. The most common joint is the big toe, but can also occur in the wrist, ankle, elbow & knee. Gout attacks are acute and without treatment can last 2 weeks when it will go away.

Your friend should try Advil or Aleve to reduce the inflammation.

A MD visit would include blood tests.

Thank you for asking us at Yahoo but I would suggest you to consult an orthopaedic doctor.
