pls help.boyfriend problem here?we've been together for 2 years.im 19 and he's 20.we love each other so much.we could die for the other one.we've always planned for getting married in the next 5 year.but just now he told me that they have some kind of disease in their family.just the male members.sth like diabetes gouts like that.by the age of 25 it will apear.his bro n his dad have it.its awful.and his grand dad died of this.now that he found out he has it too,he says he doesnt wanna get maried anymore.he doesnt want to make me sad n make an ill baby.im so depressed at the moment.i feel awful.help me.
u know its not gonna happen with not using sugar.its HEREDITARY.anything he does it will go to his baby:(

He should get informed more about the possible treatments and how to live a save life with that desaese and then u two can talk about haveing children.

Diabetes and gout are not only not genetic so they can't be passed on, they're not strictly a male disease. Find out what disease he's talking about and research it. Knowing about something takes away the fear. It also means you can ask people who know about it what it's like to live with.

And tell him not to be such a weenie. There's a genetic disease that runs in my family, a dominant one, and it's been passed from generation to generation. I have it, my daughter has it. She's robust and healthy so far and while I've suffered from it, I'm still here and still alive and wouldn't trade my life for anything. I even had to have a transplant and I'm doing just fine. It's not the end of the world.

And if he doesn't want to pass it to a child, then adopt one. There's tons of babies out there without parents.
