is it ok to take alupurinol whilst having a gout attack?

is it ok to take alupurinol whilst having a gout attack?i have a real painfull toe and i need to get rid of this hyorrible pain quickly so i have taken a colchicine 0.6mg tablet but i wonder if taking alupurinol may help at the same time, if not any ideas for pain relief right now!

colchicine is more for the acute discomfort. You can take allopurinol with it.

I had attacks when in England,from 90'-2000.These over here are more frequent,and,don't respond to the treatment as well.Alupurinol,colcicine and diclomax would seem favourite but,I have a drawer full of them,my advice,and that of any doctor over here,..if its got wings, dont eat it! Chicken is full of URIC acid which is the cause, I suppose you are on a high drink diet same as me,lol, see what happens when you give the KFC a miss. Good luck. Tony from Pattaya
