If you have what I think you have then see a doctor and he/she might prescribe a diuretic for you.
I am on a diuretic now and I am practically back to "normal."
Oh yeah, cut out the red meat.

You should eat foods that have low levels of purine. There's a really good guide at http://goutdiet.guidereviewed.com
For the most part stay away from red meats, start eating lots of cherries or cherry based foods and eat a lot more natural raw foods as described on that page I mentioned above.
