How can I prevent arthritis or rheumatism?

How can I prevent arthritis or rheumatism?Does exercise help prevent this later in my 70s? What about eating habits? Weight? Genetics?

Eat healthy (obviously), avoid acid blockers, exercise (preferably weight-baring exercises on the major areas), and supplement with some joint health products.
The reason I include to avoid acid blockers is because they are commonly prescribed when diet changes would often solve the problem, plus the fact that when there's not enough acid in your stomach, proteins and minerals can't be digested. If they aren't digested and absorbed into the system, your body will leech proteins and minerals from other parts of the body in an effort to survive... the common protein sources are joints and muscles... common mineral sources are often bones.
Weight baring exercise helps to build up not only the strength of the bones, but can help keep the joints healthy and mobile as long as you don't push it too hard.
As far as supplementation, there are a few options. The most popular are Microlactin, Tart Cherries, Glucosamine, Chondroitin, MSM, Hyaluronic Acid, Litozin (Danish Rose Hips), and Bromelain. The only thing to really watch out for is allergies. Glucosamine is typically from Shellfish and Microlactin is from milk. As long as you're not allergic to those, you should have no problem.

Genetics do play a part in joint problems, but those who are more genetically disposed to have joint problems just need to take better care so they can minimize the impact of them. Good luck!
