I'm a 49 year old male and I suddenly and periodically get an intense stabbing pain, without warning, in my left ankle. It lasts less than a minute and it happens maybe 3 to 5 times a day. It's as if I have a demented dwarf following me around and plunging an ice pick into the top of my ankle when I least expect it. It seems to make no difference if I am sitting or standing. It's very painful, I can't help but yell. &^#%^^@!!! Otherwise I'm in excellent shape.

sounds like your tendons may be collapsing.you should see a doc, even if you are in good health, your body does deteriorate at certain ages.Good Luck!
