peripheral neuropathy? (nerve damage?) Sciatica? But I think sciatica pain only usually goes down to the glutes.
Does the doctor know how bad the pain is? Call the office. There should be an oncall doctor who can advise you.
Put your feet up as much as possible on an ottoman or opposite chair when sitting. Also put a pillow or pillows under your calves when sleeping to help the fluid drain off.
Are you a diabetic? Peripheral neuropathy is fairly common in diabetics. Also alcoholics, anorexics, people who are vitamin deficient in B vitamins, people who have had chemotherapy or HIV/AIDS drugs, etc.

I had that same surgery several years ago. It doesn't work for me. If the test for gout was negative, you don't have it. You should speak to a good neurosurgeon or neurologist and let him do the tests. That will tell you more and those can be done in an office visit.

Was it spondylolisthesis surgery for 5th disk slipped fwd? Did you get fusion, brace.
Is pain in the lateral side of glute, same side as original problem, both. Any electric feeling, burning or pain only.
I would think that post surgery swelling would have hurt right away. Possibly scar tissue forming, possibly there's a nerve irritation, pinching still happening. Depends on what was done.
I wouldn't wait to mention it to Doc.
Is this what was done, (click Enlarge)?
