Although the big toe or knee are common areas for gout to act up, I see no reason why it couldn't manifest it self in your wrist joint. Carpal tunnel is also a possibility.

get another opinion, while tendonitis in the wrist does happen you should be evaluated for carpal tunnel syndrome which is very common from repetitive motion injury and typing is a major culprit. Invest in a wrist brace. See a chiropractor. Mine helped me and I'm not in pain anymore.

A quick chat on Tyger's wrist
Enough people asked me what was up with my wrist, so a quick vid to explain what's going on. I made a mistake rendering the video, so that's why the quality looks so bad. I didn't realize it 'till it was done. So, sorry, deal with it. I know I am. I have a long-term fight with a form of arthritis called "gout". And it sucks. The doctor was as surprised at the diagnosis as I was. There's one treatment I didn't talk about in this vid, because I tried to erase it from my mind all together. You can get cortisone shots into the inflamed joint to deaden the pain a while, and I've had it done in the past so I could go to big events, but never again. I'll take the pain over the risks. And, as a "Cover your tail" statement, I'm not a doctor, I may be wrong on what I say here. What's stated in this video is opinion based on a non-medical person's experience dealing with this stuff, don't self-diagnose / self treat. See a doctor, let them do the real tests.
