The burning sensation you felt when you pee most probably is the result of the increased level of acids in your body. This could be the the sign that your body is trying to throw out some uric acid as the result of consuming the drug.

Although Uloric is said to be more effective than Allopurinol, but the effect of both drugs are just temporary. Although the xanthine oxidase inhibitor can 'retard' the conversion of purine to uric acid, but it won't dissolve away those urate crystals that has already formed in the joints of your body since many years ago.

You may experience obvious drop of blood uric acid level at the beginning of the Uloric course, but the drop is just temporary and will reach a plateau after sometime and your gout will come back to you again. You must understand that our body must convert those unused purines to uric acid for disposal long term suppress of this purine degradation process will cause the purine to build up in the liver and create some serious side effects that will only surface after many years... And the drug companies are smart enough to cover their ass... "Liver failure is not one of the side effects of Uloric according to our Clinical Study". Well, the million dollar questions is... Do you think they will waste so much time to have clinical studies that will only reveal more side effects?

Burning while peeing, or "dysuria", is not a side effect reported in any significant frequency in Uloric studies.

Also, Uloric administration results in decreased uric acid urine levels...and the comment that your body would "through away" uric acid due to the ingestion of Uloric is an unfounded one.

In summary, it is unlikely that Uloric is causing your burning urination, and it is also unlikely that it has resulted in increased urine acids to cause the burning. You should consult with your physician, since you may have another problem such as a urinary tract infection.
