You need to see a Rheumatologist. Reason being that some drugs for arthritis can cause gout. Therefore a Rheumatologist will be able to advise on the correct treatment.

I know alot about gout, have done battle with it for 14+ years. I don't know much about arthritis.
You need to help the body get rid of uric acid. How do you do that? You drink lots of water daily, 1 oz for every 2 lbs of body weight. You take allopurinol, it's a script from the doctor and it's very inexpensive and it has no side effects. You eat fruits and veggies, and/or drink V8 VFusion (I love the VFusion juice). You take celery seed pills, helps the body to not produce so much uric acid. You eat sour dairy products, namely cottage cheese, sour cream, and plain yogurt... the latter can be mixed into smoothies using orange juice, pineapple, frozen berries, and a banana.
Best website I've found: www.best-gout-remedies.com.
Also, don't eat/drink things that make the body acidic or dehydrate the body: beer, coffee, soda, high fructose corn syrup.
Best of luck to you!
