My husband used to get gout flareups every few months, and he's cut alcohol out of his diet completely. That seems to be helping. Also, we read an article that said Vitamin C was good for gout, so he started taking it every morning. Since he started, he's only had one flareup. And when he did have one, he took two Vitamin C capsules every few hours to help flush his system. Instead of the flareup lasting three or four days like it normally does, it was gone in about 48 hours. It's not a cure-all, but it really helped him. Good luck!

He needs to change his eating habits. Gout is a common side effect of diabetes and the diets are similar in that no more fatty foods can be eaten. Switch instead to a healthy fruits and vegetable centered diet. Check out the sites referenced below for more information. Gout is extremely painful so be patient with him. Good luck
