Here's another web page with helpful info. Bottom line: if you are in the middle of a gout attack, prob not a good idea to start taking allopurinol.

But in my experience of 14+ yrs doing battle with and winning against gout, allopurinol and celery seed pills and lots of water each day will keep the gout away.
