Chronic swelling of left foot.?

Chronic swelling of left foot.?I have chronic swelling localized to my left foot. Some joint pain involved as well as pain up leg. Has been diagnosed previously as gout, but doesn't seem episodic as gout would be. It is ongoing and does worsen if any length of time spent on my feet. Does discolor purple and red when particularly swollen. Any ideas about a localized condition other than gout, and/or suggestions for relief/remedy?

I am going to suggest checking your lymphatic system in the area. are your lymph nodes in your groin swollen or tender? sometimes if there is a problem with an area of the lymphatic system you will become edemetous. But most definately get a second opinion with an M.D. but bring up the possibility of your lymph nodes in that area. There is also the possibility of just poor circulation and your blood isnt able to leave the area once its there and pools.

Sounds like EDEMA and a Circulation problem. You need to see your doctor immediately. They'll have to run tests on you. Particulary a vein flow test, and probably a cardio test. They might also put you on a diuretic. I'm surprised that they didn't do that in the first place being as this is pretty severe. Elevate your foot above your heart to help the fluid flow. I know this sounds crazy, but drink a lot of fluids to help push the excess fluid out via kidney. The purple and red discoloring tells me that you're having a circulatory problem. You need a doctor asap. Please go and see your doc. I hope you feel better soon. If you're over weight, that could be one of the causes to the edema. I experienced this a few years ago. For two years straight, both my legs, and feet along with my ankles were swollen in the summer time. Didn't matter if I was sitting, or walking. I had to be put on a diuretic to help excrete the fluid. Talk about having to use the bathroom every 20 minutes. But it worked. I have now lost a lot of weight, and I haven't had swollen feet/legs since. Best wishes to you. Feel better soon.

GREETINGS, what tests have you had on this? Did they test for vein problems, diabetes, organ problems? You need some tests to be sure it's gout alone and not a mixure of problems. Lymphedema can be one of them to mention as well. Standing on your feet prolonged time periods will make lymphatic swelling worse if you have lymphedema. You would need to see a lymphedema therapist for treatment, check with your doctor and if you are indeed diagnosed with lymphedema, contact me back and I'll help you find a therapist.
